The owner of Bush Hall Hotel in Mill Green has confirmed that it is in talks with an operator to reopen the site as a hotel.

Recent building work sparked several queries about the future of the premises, which closed in December 2009.

A spokesman for Gascoyne Cecil Estates told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that although the work was linked to essential repairs, it is also taking place because talks are ongoing about reopening as a hotel.

“We are in discussions with a potential operator to open it as a hotel,” he said.

“We want to reaffirm our commitment to both the property and Mill Green area as it is very much part of the gateway between Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.”

The spokesman declined to reveal who the potential new operator was, or how advanced the discussions were.
