A STAR act from Britain’s Got Talent will be helping shoppers in Hatfield strut their funky stuff over half-term next week.
The Galleria will host eight days of urban street dance workshops over the school holiday, starting tomorrow (Saturday).
And on both Saturdays – February 11 and 18 – street dance duo Twist & Pulse will be making a guest appearance, with a live performance at noon.
Ashley Glazebrook (Twist) and Glen Murphy (Pulse) impressed judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden in the fourth series of the ITV talent hunt in 2010, finishing runners-up with their ‘Streetomedy’ performances – a blend of street dance and comedy.
Now visitors to the Hatfield outlet centre will be able to try out some moves, too.
Throughout the week you can learn how to street dance under the instruction of one of the UK’s top urban dance choreographers David Welch and his dance troupe Karisma Krew.
They will also perform a finale showcase on Saturday, February 18 alongside Unity, who are currently competing in Sky1 show Got To Dance.
Tim Stirling, manager of the shopping centre, said: “We are very excited about hosting the urban street dance workshops for Galleria visitors as it’s a first for the shopping centre.
“Urban street dance has grown in popularity over the last couple of years thanks to the likes of Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity so we expect the workshops to be really popular.”
* To take part in the 45-minute dance workshops people can sign up on the day by either donating £3 to the British Heart Foundation or showing proof of £20 spent anywhere in the Galleria.
There will be five workshops running each day from 11am to 4pm, with the first class starting at 11am for the under 11s, followed by classes for adults and children over 11.
No previous dancing experience is required to take part and the workshops are open to all ages.
The classes will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
* One lucky Welwyn Hatfield Times reader can win an exclusive opportunity to have a dance lesson with Britain’s Got Talent stars Twist & Pulse.
