A Hatfield man was the first contestant to get rejected on Blind Date after being grilled by host Paul O’Grady.

Richard, 42, from Hatfield, appeared on Blind Date on Channel 5 on Saturday, August 4.

The self-development and transformational life coach went on the show to find the one to settle down and have kids with.

The show involved one singleton, a 33-year-old woman called Devorshka, asking Richard and two other potential partners questions.

A screen was placed between them, and Devorshka had to pick one lucky individual based purely on their answers.

Sadly for Richard she appeared to be most unimpressed by his answers as she choose him to be the first to be booted off the show.

Richard, who helps people with their wellbeing and relationships was jokingly teased by Paul O’Grady who asked “Why are you on here if you’re teaching people about relationships?

“So you help others but your own relationships are lousy?”

He explained to the famous host how he had made some “incredible mistakes” and told the story of the time he drove 1,000 miles to a girl’s house who he’d met online.

He then drove back to his house with her and after she hated it and the “cloudy” weather he had to drive her back home.

When asked by Devorshka what was the most diva-ish thing he had ever done, Richard replied: “I once dressed up as the ultimate diva for a charity thing at work.

“I went as Scary Spice and even wore leopard print leggings.”

He then offered to wear them for her if she became his lover.

At the end of the questions, Devorshka gave the men a chance to ask her a question.

Richard asked: “I’ve been known to go for long drives.

“How would you feel if I swept you away for a last minute get-away?”

After being rejected, Richard had to walk past Devorshka so the pair could see one another for the first time.

Sadly for Richard, he also missed out on a free all expenses paid holiday with Devorshka.

Blind Date returned last year with Paul O’Grady at the helm after a 13-year hiatus following the legendary Cilla Black who previously hosted the show.
