A man has been banned from Asda in Hatfield for a year after stealing alcohol.

Artur Budka, 24, appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on July 23 where he admitted three charges of theft from the town centre store.

Budka stole one bottle of whiskey and three cans of Red Bull on July 6 worth £16.

On the same date, he also stole three bottles of whiskey and two cans of Red Bull worth £34.

On July 5, he stole one bottle of whiskey and two cans of Red Bull worth £18.

Ordered to pay £68 in compensation, plus £115 to victim services and £85 court costs.

Budka, of no fixed abode, was given a six-week jail term suspended for 12 months.

Magistrates considered the offences especially serious due to his “persistent” shoplifting and failure to comply with community orders.

The defendant must comply with a supervision period of 12 months.

He has been banned from entering Asda in Town Centre, Hatfield, for 12 months until July 27 2019.
