Armed police dealt with an incident in Hatfield this morning, following which a man was arrested.

Police were called at 10.53am today (Friday, August 3) to reports of a disturbance at a block of flats in Hazel Grove.

A police spokeswoman said: “It was reported that a man was attempting to kick the door down to a flat.

“Officers, including those from the Armed Policing Unit, attended the scene.”

Residents took to social media to warn others that a number of roads around Hazel Grove were closed off still at around 12pm.

• A 51-year-old man from Hatfield has been arrested on suspicion of affray and has been taken to custody.
