DO you have valuable antiques stashed away in your loft? Have you ever wondered how much that old brooch from your aunt is worth?

Is that vase you always hated a treasure from the Ming Dynasty?

Well, on Sunday you can find out if you have any cash in your attic, when charity Save the Children hosts an antiques roadshow in Welwyn.

The event will take place at the Welwyn Civic Centre in Prospect Place from 11am to 4pm.

Specialists from Culvertons of Surrey, with more 25 years’ knowledge of fine art and antiques, will be on hand to value your jewellery, books, autographs, maps, watches and clocks, porcelain, pictures and furniture.

First in line with a family heirloom is Welwyn Hatfield’s current deputy mayor, Carl Storer.

He said: “Antiques Roadshow is one of my favourite programmes. I just love the gems they discover among our every day nick-knacks.

“It’s great that Culvertons have given up their time to help create a fantastic and fun way to raise money for Save the Children.

I can’t wait to find out more about the history of my Lladro porcelain dog.”

Entry is by prepaid ticket, but you can reserve a slot. It is £5 for the first item to be valued and £3 for up to three other items, with a maximum of four items per person.

All the proceeds will be donated to Save the Children.
