Welwyn cyclist airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

A woman has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after falling off her bike in Welwyn.

The ambulance service was called to reports of a woman in her 60s who had fallen off her bicycle in Canonsfield Road at 9.29am.

Police were also called at 9.34am.

One ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended the scene.

A police spokeswoman said the woman was then airlifted to the Royal London Hospital for further treatment after suffering serious injuries.

The road has now been cleared and emergency services have left the scene.
