There has been an accident on the A1(M).

Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash today (August 18) involving an overturned vehicle on the A1(M) between Junctions 6 and 7.

The road was closed in both directions while emergency services, including police, fire services and ambulance, dealt with the incident.

Four vehicles were involved in the collision on the southbound carriageway, including the one that overturned.

The northbound carriageway had to be closed to allow for the air ambulance to land, but by 2.30pm the road was reopened.

A woman in her 70s suffered slight injuries.

Delays have now eased after all vehicles were recovered, and traffic is now flowing normally.
