CHARITY workers from London travelled to Times Territory to hand out care packages to help older residents keep warm this winter.
Staff from Age UK’s grants team visited Douglas Tilbe House in Hall Grove WGC, and gave out “hot boxes” to centre user, as part of the charity’s Winter Warmth campaign.
Each box contained a scarf, gloves, instant porridge, packets of soup, biscuits and other goodies to help older people keep warm during an enforced stay at home due to the cold weather.
The team and clients were then treated to live jazz and swing music courtesy of Dominic Kay’s Ratpack, before heading off to Age UK Hertfordshire’s head office in Watchmead, WGC, to meet managers and staff.
Grants manager Margaret Hulme was impressed with Douglas Tilbe House.
“It’s so modern,” she said.
“I love it. I would love everyone from the London hub to come out and visit places like this. It’s so important.”
Grants co-ordinator Matthew Allgood added: “It’s so good for us to come out and see how money from our campaigns is helping older people.”
