Heavy traffic is building on the A1(M), ahead of Sonisphere

TRAFFIC is at a standstill on the A1(M), after an accident earlier this afternoon (Thursday) further hindered revellers trying to get to Knebworth House for the 2011 Sonisphere Festival.

Cars heading northbound are crawling back to junction five for WGC, as music lovers head towards the English leg of the touring rock festival, which kicks off tomorrow.

And a collision between a flat bed lorry and a car has further complicated matters.

The accident happened between junction six Welwyn and junction seven Knebworth at 2.30pm. Nobody was injured, but one lane was blocked while the vehicles were recovered.

It has since reopened.
