Police are on the scene following a crash between a motorbike and a car on the A1(M) between Stevenage and Welwyn.

Highways England are predicting delays of at least an hour following the collision between junctions 7 for Stevenage and 6 for Welwyn.

Highways England tweeted: “Long delays due to a collision involving a motorcycle and a car on the A1(M) s/b between J7 and J6.

“This has occurred within roadworks which remain in place currently and are due to be removed soon.

“Herts police on scene.”

One lane remains closed.

Congestion is reportedly backing up towards junction 8 for Hitchin.
