16-year-old arrested after Hatfield car crash

A 16-year-old youth has been arrested after a car collided with two parked vehicles in Hatfield.
Police today appealed for witnesses following the collision involving a blue Peugeot 307 on Saturday, April 1, at around 9.50pm in The Downs.
A police spokeswoman said it is alleged that several of the car’s occupants fled the scene, heading on foot along The Downs towards Bishops Rise.
A 16-year-old youth from Hatfield was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
He has been police bailed until May 22.
A 29-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, who were both arrested on suspicion taking a vehicle without consent, have been released with no further action.
PC Rhian Roberts, who is investigating, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or believes they saw the occupants of the vehicle following the collision to contact me via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference B2/17/1612.”
