THE stage is set for this weekend’s 2012 Slam Dunk Festival being held at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield.

The southern leg of the music event returns to the university’s College Lane Campus on Sunday.

The bands, including main stage headliners Taking Back Sunday, will be appearing in Hatfield a day after playing the north leg in Leeds, Yorkshire, on the Saturday.

This will be Taking Back Sunday’s first headline UK show of the year – and a Slam Dunk UK festival exclusive with the original line-up.

“We can’t wait to head over to the UK to play Slam Dunk Festival,” said the band’s Adam Lazzara.

“It’s a bunch of great bands, some we’ve played with and others we have not, so it’s gonna be cool getting to see and meet everyone. Hope to see y’all there!”

Slam Dunk organisers confirmed last week the running order and stage times for the various stages, with headline slots for Taking Back Sunday outdoors, Architects in the main Auditorium and Watford hardcore punks Gallows in the Refectory.

The SDF12 line-up also includes Welsh groups The Blackout and Funeral For A Friend on the Jagermeister / Atticus stage before Taking Back Sunday’s closing set at the Forum Hertfordshire.

Also playing the day-long pop-punk, hardcore, metal, ska and emo festival are the likes of Cancer Bats, Capdown, Every Time I Die and Mayday Parade, who will close the Red Bull Stage in the Piazza.

Former Busted frontman and Fightstar singer Charlie Simpson will headline the Punktastic.com Acoustic Stage in the Style Bar, while over in the EleHouse there will be a DJ set by Hadouken from 9.15pm to 10.45pm.
