THE 2012 Slam Dunk Festival rocked the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield with 5,000 fans enjoying a gloriously sunny Sunday afternoon of music.
A sell-out crowd at the uni’s College Lane Campus saw performances from Welsh bands Funeral for a Friend and The Blackout on the main outdoor Jagermeister/Atticus stage.
The festival, now in its third year at the Forum Hertfordshire entertainment complex, was closed by headliners Taking Back Sunday.
Meanwhile, Brighton metalcore outfit Architects topped the bill inside in the venue’s main auditorium.
Watford hardcore punks Gallows headlined the Vans Off The Wall stage in the refectory with former Alexisonfire guitarist/singer Wade MacNeil taking the place of ex-frontman Frank Carter, now of Pure Love.
Americans Mayday Parade closed the festival on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam stage outside the EleHouse in the Piazza Marquee.
Others to play Slam Dunk’s southern leg in Hertfordshire included main stage bands Motion City Soundtrack, Lower Than Atlantis, Zebrahead and Say Anything.
There were also sets across the Hatfield site from the likes of MC Lars, Upon a Burning Body, Canterbury, It Boys!, While She Sleeps, Of Mice and Men, Transit, Capdown and Forever The Sickest Kids.
