HATFIELD swimmer Adam Brown and the GB men’s 4x100m medley relay team won their heat this morning in sensational style to qualify for the Olympic Games final.

The GB foursome of Liam Tancock, Craig Benson, Michael Rock and Brown clocked 3mins 33.73secs to win heat one and go through as the second fastest qualifiers behind only heat two winners USA in 3mins 32.65secs.

Backstroke specialist Tancock led off the GB team at the Aquatics Centre, a superb second breaststroke leg by Benson put the home nation ahead of the field.

Rock maintained the top spot with his butterfly leg before handing over to Brown.

The Hatfield Swimming Club’s freestyle ace completed the last leg holding off the challenge of the Australians to touch first to a huge cheer from the home Union flag waving crowd at the Aquatics Centre.

It was a fantastic Olympic Games high point for Brown who was rested for the 4x100m freestyle relay, in which the team failed to progress, and then he did not make the finals of the 50m or 100m individual freestyle.

The 4x100m medley final is scheduled to take place tomorrow evening (Saturday) at 8.27pm.
