Interesting Fact: Tewin's Tom Stallard began rowing aged 13 at the Broxbourne Rowing Club with his father Matt.
He is still a member of the club and earlier this year met with a side from East Herts outfit ahead of their appearance at the Henley Royal Regatta.
Tom competed in four University Boat Races for Cambridge between 1999 and 2002 and was twice on the winning side.
As well as being a valuable team member during that period, he was also Cambridge president in 2002.
The Beijing Olympics will be Tom’s second Games in a row. He was also in the men's eight that came ninth at the 2004 Athens Games.
WHT Olympic analysis: We could soon be talking about Mr Stallard as an Olympic gold medallist.
He and his men's eight buddies are high in confidence and expect to come home with a medal. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope it's a gold one.
As with any sport at the highest level, anything can happen on the day. But if all goes to plan, Stallard will be smiling like a Cheshire cat.
