Steve SutherlandName: Steve Sutherland

Date of Birth: 19/08/1990

Lives: Langwarren, Victoria

Born: Welwyn Garden City

Sport: Amateur Boxing

Weight: Flyweight

Club: Carrem Boxing Club, Victoria

Interesting Fact: Steve and his dad Gregg emigrated to Australia from Welwyn four years ago and the teenage fighter has certainly made a name for himself Down Under with a string of superb performance in the ring.

The 17-year-old is a former Monk's Walk School pupil and a former member of the successful Stevenage amateur club.

Sutherland will be the youngest member of the Australian boxing squad in Beijing.

How he got there: Stephen competed at the 2007 World Championships reaching the third round. Later in the year he took out the National title in the senior U48kg division and went on to become the Oceania Champion in 2008, qualifying for the Olympic Games.

WHT Olympic analysis: Like Hatfield hopeful Billy Joe Saunders, Steve was originally scheduled for the 2012 London Olympics.

However, such has been his development that in winning the Oceania Olympic Qualifiers held in Samoa, he is set to make his Olympic mark.

What will surely be a learning process for the teenager, a solid showing and the chance to gain invaluable experience will be all that is expected from the former Monk's Walk pupil.
