Town at home in WGC

Is the move to WGC a good one for Hatfield Town?

Trevor Lloyd's title-chasers will play their remaining home games at Herns Lane, instead of Harpenden's Rothamsted Park ground.

The move brings Hatfield much closer to their spirtual home - WGC is half the distance to travel - although many will question Town playing home games at City.

Anyone who has witnessed the clubs' recent Dalton Shield matches will know all about the intense rivarly between Hatfield and WGC.

The proof will be whether Hatfield can keep their better players, win the title and finally clinch promotion back to the South Midlands League - a league they last played in during the club's Gosling days.

It seems Town are now looking to return to their Hatfield home at Birchwood with improved facilities.

The Angerland option seems to be a non-starter.

After playing at Harpenden and more recently WGC in recent years, a Hatfield homecoming would be a major boost to the town's football club.
