Girl dies after car plunges into river

Michelle Fosbrook 21/02/2008, 1:16 PM

Nine-year-old Charlotte Walker, of March Road, Tipp’s End near Welney, was travelling in a Citroen Picasso which went into the Sixteen Foot Bank near Bedlam Bridge, on the outskirts of March, on Wednesday February 20, 2008.

In-water rescue vehicles arrived to help the massive effort to rescue Charlotte and paramedics attempted to resuscitate her once she had been pulled to the shore.

Overnight, however, news came from Peterborough District Hospital that Charlotte had died.
